Target Poverty

by Rochelle on Oct.25, 2009, under Features, News

The Day of Action is happening on November 5, 2009, and UMSU wants to show the government that poverty is increasing in Manitoba, including the student debt, and this has to end.

Target Poverty is the campaign for a poverty-free Manitoba. The Canadian Federation of Students–Manitoba and Make Poverty History Manitoba have joined together to build a province-wide campaign calling on the government to take concrete action to end Manitoba’s heartbreaking poverty crisis.

To be a part of this campaign, sign a postcard that is actually a petition to our Premier, demonstrating that thousands of people who live in poverty are making sacrifices that affect them hugely by the day. The government has to put a stop to this. We’ve been sort of able to put up with it before, but now, with the increase in numbers of poverty in Winnipeg alone, what is the government sacrificing for us?

For more information, go to targetpoverty.ca.
